I was born in Beijing, China, and moved to Japan with my parents at an early age, where I have experienced cultural displacement and assimilation. My personal cultural experiences have motivated my academic and artistic explorations on the notions of home, identity, migration and otherness based on anthropological perspectives. My art practice include video, live art, drawing and installation, and intends to mirror the hybrid identity and the social/cultural transformation in our time. As a socially active artist of Chinese descent living in Japan, my lifetime goal is to contribute to cross-border understanding, and challenge to empower the voices of those who are under-represented in our history.
